Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Bears Sign Brandon McGowan

The Bears brought back some more safety help, which in light of our current situation with Mike Browns' injury history and Adam Archuleta's inability to play is a good thing.

Brandon McGowan signs his one year tender offer.

"Brandon definitely got better," said defensive backs coach Steven Wilks. "Brandon is a guy who brings that attitude and toughness that we want. He's a great open-field tackler and he showed a lot of range last year."

Good News
I am happy that they signed Brandon McGowan back. I don't have much trust in Mike Brown staying healthy. If he goes down with another serious injury this upcoming year, his career is over. The Bears need some depth at safety. It was a dumb decision to trade Chris Harris who had a very good season last year with 97 tackles, 8 forced fumbles, and an INT. I sure do miss him. Adam Archuleta was a pretty big disappointment last year and the Bears still probably have to draft a safety in the later rounds...maybe a Tyrell Johnson.

Saftey
i would prefer to draft haruki nakamura. he a good open field tackler and has a nose for the ball. we  pero could get him in later rounds.

i agree 100%
with whitebearsox23 (which btw, i came so close to having a similar s/n, love it btw) but i agree with all that youve said and I still feel like Chris Harris is on the Bears, and the issue w/ Mike Brown is so depressing, Brown is such an influential and crucial leader and player for this team, I love him as a person and player , its such a terrible shame his career has gone this way. I usually keep it together but laast season when he cried in that press conference, I lost it and felt so bad for him. Also I hated how Harry Tinewitz(or however you spell it) from Mac Yurko and Harry made fun of that. Either way I wish Brown thee absolute best for his career and I wish he can hold up just long enough to see some good happen with our team....PS, I think we need a diary dedication to Mike Brown, just for everything he's done so far and Im sure theres those dumbies who know nothing about him but his injuries and will comment that way, but he has always been up there as one of my favorite Bears...anyways to not babble on, but thats what I had to say.

Brown.
Rotoworld is reporting that Brown might get cut. While everything else in the blurb is sourced to the Sun-Times, that bit seems like their own speculation, but it's a rumor out there right now. I'll be heartbroken if it happens.

no shot
if angelo and lovie cant give up on rex or cedben, I find it hard to believe they will give up on a player that has actually produced (when healthy), let alone a galvanizing force in our defense.

They said earlier this year
that Arch's and Browns fate rests in what they do in training camp.  Brown is a lock if he can just stay healthy, but you never know on that one.

I thought they wanted them...
...to restructure their contracts. As in, take a huge pay cut for your weaknesses (sucking or being hurt depending on the guy), or risk getting cut and not getting much money at all.

I might be wrong on that, and I'm too busy to search. Does anyone else recall that?

I dont know about mike brown
but I'm pretty sure arch already got most of his money and isnt gonna get much money this season, which is I would speculate is the reason he wasnt dealt or cut.

i believe
they agreed with brown that if they would let him stay on the team and not cut him that he would take a pay cut. Basically saying he's saying that he wants to be on the Bears so badly that he would lose money to stay...gotta love him

as much as i hate to say it
we will not get mendenhall, and i dont mean to be negative, i just know that whenever a player gets pushed like he didn in the draft, that he wont go tot hte team that he planned to

Dont the bears primarily need
a Free Safety specialist with good speed and instincts to at least backup Danieal Manning? DManning has given up too many big plays and failed to make many himself. But he has excellent speed and should continue to improve enough to hold the starter spot. I know Brown has played well as a FS, but he seems better suited for SS as well as Archuleta, Payne, and McGowan. Marcus Griffin from Texas, Hefney from Tennessee, and Parker from VT are all FS types maybe available in round5, and are rated #11-13 Safeties(combined) in Scout.com.

Saftey
YouTube to the rescue. griffin good run support but didnt show alot of pass defence footage. Hefney talked some smack bout Cal and thair RB trucked him so hard his helmet flew off. LMAO NO footage on dj parker but he projected better at CB,  cuz they say he's too linky to play Saftey.
