Although Coach Smith dubbed it a four man competition, Berrian gets the job this Sunday.
Also, Bobby Wade has been picked off of waivers by the Tennessee Titans.
Berrian is the most logical choice because he was hailed as the most sure-handed option when he had the job at the start of the season. The Bears don't care if they don't get another yard from their returner this season; they just don't want the ball on the ground after Wade had eight of the team's 11 mishandled punts. Surprisingly, only three resulted in turnovers, all against the San Francisco 49ers.
"We need to get some production from it, and I feel like that could be a weapon for us,'' coach Lovie Smith said. "We're trying to score in any way we can, and hopefully we'll be able to get a little bit more from that position.''
Named as other possibilities Wednesday were Nathan Vasher, Eddie Berlin and Rashied Davis.
