Pianoman on His Way Out

In a move that surprises noone, Detroit has signed another free agent QB that could signal the end of Joey Harrington.  Earlier they signed Cincy backup Jon Kitna, now they have signed ex-Cardinal Josh McCown.

McCown, 26, signed a two-year contract worth $6 million, a deal that will pay him $4 million in 2006 between his signing bonus and base salary.

It is a safe bet the McCown will be Kitna's backup.  This move does remove one more name from the Bears pool of backup QBs.  With the Jets and Patrick Ramsey deal souring it leaves him and Brian Griese as the best possible options.
