Pick up a copy of the Chicago Sun Times today and you will get to read Jay Mariotti's pithy comments about how the season is over. I hate Mariotti as much as the next guy, but he is hitting a a topic that is sweeping the city. Almost every radio show in the city mentioned it yesterday. Is it over?
I really don't think so. It's not over yet. There is too much season left in a bad division to pin that on us now, but dang, we are really close. Our defense has just been bad lately. Had it not been for Tillman last week we would be looking at 1-5 and a suicidal city. If we don't get our act together this week against the Eagles, then we are going to have a mighty big hole to climb out of. I won't call it a season yet, but we surely are in danger of such a notion.
We need to shape up. Our defense needs... something. Our coaches need to stop being so stubborn. Something needs to give, and hopefully it won't be our team.
