WCG Mock Draft- Kansas City (#23)

23. Kansas City Chiefs- Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU

When Eddie Kennison is your team's top wideout, you're going to be looking
at the position early in the draft. They could also use help on both sides
of the line and at safety, but with Herm Edward's supposed plan to limit the
load on Larry Johnson, KC going for a receiver is one of the locks of the
draft.

In just about every mock draft, Calvin Johnson and Tedd Ginn will be off the
board by the time the KC is on the clock, which means they will be choosing
from the likes of Dwayne Jarrett, Robert Meacham, and Dwayne Bowe. With
Meacham off the board, Bowe is the easy choice here, with Jarrett falling
off many draft boards with concerns over his size (too much of it), and lack
of speed (draws compaisons the Mike Williams).

Bowe is a big, physical reciever, 6-3 and 220, with adequate speed (4.5 40
yd dash). He is a punishing receiver who excels at blocking and is not
afraid to go over the middle, attributes that make him a good choice for a
run-first team like the Chiefs. He was the go-to target of Jamarcus Russell,
so he'll have to get used to balls that don't come out of a cannon. His main
criticisms have been the lack of top-end speed and drops. He underwent LASIK
surgery in the off-season in an attempt to combat the latter.
