WCG Mock Draft - The New York Jets Select...

ANALYSIS:  With the 17th pick in the draft, the NY Jets select Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State. SInce the retirement of Brett Favre, the quartback situation in NY is up in the air, with Clemons, Ratliff and Ainge are not quite the answer Rex Ryan and the Jets front office are really in love with. Freeman is one of the few QB's in the draft with some strong upside to him, a mediocre arm, but can get their WR's the ball down field. With Stafford gone, Freeman is the next likely pick. The Jets also are in need of a WR after losing Laverneus Coles to the Bengles, but the long term pick will be the everyday starting QB, and Freeman could compete for playing time with Clemons and Ratliff. I would not be suprised to see the Jets trade this pick up to potentially get a different player, however, if they do pick in this spot, Freeman will fit the bill. With Thomas Jones in contract disputes (again) the Jets could go with another RB, but QB is a bigger issue.
