Fistful of Sand: Bears Lose To Broncos 13-10

Just when you think the game is in hand, it slips away. After taking a 0-0 tie score into the half, the Bears pulled ahead with a Robbie Gould 57-yard field goal, a new career high, and a Marion Barber touchdown dash to push the score to 10-0.

Things were fine until the last five minutes of the fourth quarter, when the Bears allowed the Broncos to score a touchdown with 2:08 remaining. The Bears recovered the onside kick, and everything was copacetic, right?

Wrong.

Marion Barber ran out of bounds on the first play after the two-minute warning and the Bears were forced to give the Broncos the ball back with 50 seconds left, and after knocking a perfect 59-yard kick through the uprights took the game to overtime. After making a diving catch for a first down, Barber then coughed up a fumble at a horrible time, giving the ball back to Denver, and Matt Prater kicked a 51-yarder to end it.

Disappointing numbers after the jump.
