There weren't many arguments in our first edition of this series, with RB Walter Payton being declared the greatest draft pick ever made by the Bears. The reasoning was that Payton was probably the all-time greatest player in the history of the game, so that was an easy choice.
Now we'll start with the rest of the best... LB Dick Butkus. Granted, Butkus was also a 1st round Draft pick (3rd overall in 1965), but he was also the greatest LB to have ever played the game. There has never been a more-feared player in the history of the NFL, and Butkus relentlessly tortured offensive players for the 8 years he was in the league. (We won't count 1973, considering the team would not allow him to have knee surgery, so he just retired.)
Eight seasons in the NFL, eight Pro Bowl appearances, and a legacy that will carry on for eternity.
Where do you see Butkus ranking among all-time greatest Bears draft picks? Should he rank #2, or should someone else?
