John 'Moon' Mullin says Bears likely to target DT Cullen Jenkins

It's unfortunate that most NFL news these days is predicated on a new CBA being signed, but that's just where things sit right now between teams and the players. One of the biggest stories this year for the Bears was the release of DT Tommie Harris, who was in a "too little/too late" situation at the conclusion of the 2010 season.

John 'Moon' Mullin of CSN Chicago says that the team will place a high priority on re-signing free agent Anthony Adams, but also says that Green Bay DT Cullen Jenkins will also be on their radar once teams are able to start making free agency moves.

The Bears have their targets identified for whenever free agency opens. Green Bay’s Cullen Jenkins projects as the priority, followed by perhaps a Brandon Mebane out of Seattle.

Jenkins has contributed to the Packers defense since 2004, but is not likely to be in their plans moving forward.

Unless something happens with the labor impasse in the next few weeks, Free Agency is likely to happen after the Draft, so that will also come into play. Suppose, for example, Stephen Paea is on the board when the Bears make their 1st round pick... it would be hard to imagine Jerry Angelo passing on Paea, and would also change the team's priorities once FA began. Again, with so many questions looming regarding the bigger picture, it's difficult to try to piece together the smaller issues that are out there.

The waiting game is getting old, to say the least...
