There have been a lot of articles published by the mainstream outlets regarding how the lockout might affect the short- and long-term attention of NFL fans, but I'm not sure of what they are reporting. It's hard for me to imagine NFL fans, especially the die hards that support their team year-round, being pushed away from watching games on Sunday due to sustained labor issues we are witnessing now. Maybe that's the case, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that idea.
Adam Schefter pointed out a few weeks ago that the league set up the 2011 schedule to where the first three weeks of the season could be lost due to the labor impasse, and still be able to have all 16 games be played after it's all said and done. My perspective: When games are played, fans will show up. But maybe I'm wrong. Let us know where you stand.
