I don't know how many times in a four month span we can hear the words "Major Progress Reported," and I'm sure we're at a record already, but feel free to add one to that number. According to NFL.com, CBS Sports, and ESPN (What? Got something against verification?), NFL owners and players have reached a tentative agreement where the former NFLPA's eleven-member executive board will vote Monday; recommending the 10-year CBA plan the owners ratified on Thursday.
Then it's the 32 team player reps' turn and recertification; hopefully all voting would be wrapped by Tuesday, and recertification could be finalized on Friday.
Barring any unforeseen difficulties (hmm, where have we heard that before?), the league year could start on Wednesday with facilities opening, free agency and trading; camp starts on Friday with the preseason starting on August 11. Could it be that this endlessly-growing train tunnel might stop adding new segments so we can actually reach the light at the end of it?
As Yogi Berra said, It ain't over till it's over...
