Bears place three players on IR, including Kicker Robbie Gould

The Bears made a flurry of roster moves, highlighted (or would it lowlighted?) by adding Robbie Gould to IR.

US PRESSWIRE

And the hits just keep coming for the Chicago Bears...

The Bears placed kicker Robbie Gould on injured reserve today, along with safety Craig Steltz, and corner back Sherrick McManis.

Olindo Mare was signed to handle the kicking duties for the remainder of the season. Mare last played in Carolina in 2011 where he appeared in all 16 games, and was 22-28 on field goals.

Additional roster moves today were, wide out Joe Anderson being promoted to 53-man roster from the practice squad, and linebacker Jerry Franklin signed off of Cowboys' practice quad. The Bears also waived recently signed offensive guard Andre Gurode.

Franklin is 6'1, 245, and has never appeared in an NFL regular season game.

Brad Biggs is also reporting that the Bears re-signed offensive guard Chris Riley to the practice squad.

With these moves the Bears have one opening on the 53 man roster.

All three of the recent IR adds were from Sunday's Vikings game. Gould is out with a calf injury, Staltz with a chest, and McManis with a knee.

No official word about the knee injury suffered by rookie Shea McClellin.
