Playing on their home turf, with so much on the line, Lovie Smith and his Chicago Bears were defeated 21-13 by the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are once again your NFC North champions, and the Bears are once again going to be fighting for a Wild Card spot.
The offensive line situation is as bad as we have seen in the last several seasons, with guys being rotated in and out at different positions seemingly every possession.
Certainly injuries play a big part, but those are not exclusive to the Chicago Bears. Depth is needed, and that is the job of the General Manager and Head Coach to build.
Final stat lines:
Aaron Rodgers: 23/36, 291 yds, 3 TD
Jay Cutler: 122/1, 135 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
Matt Forte: 20 rushes, 69 yds, 5 rec, 64 yds
Randall Cobb: 6 rec, 115 yds
James Jones: 5 rec, 60 yds, 3 TD
Brandon Marshall: 6 rec, 56 yds, 1 TD
Jay Cutler was under pressure all day, being sacked four times. Alshon Jeffery was called for multiple pass interference penalties. D.J. Moore had a poor day in coverage, and is likely finished in Chicago when his contract expires at the end of this season.
In other news, the Minnesota Vikings beat the St. Louis Rams, and move tie the Bears at 8-6 in the NFC North. Adrian Peterson eclipsed 200 yards on the ground, putting his team right back in the thick of things. The Wild Card race is on.
Stay tuned...
