Official WCG Mock Draft - Pick #24: Pittsburgh Steelers

If everything goes to plan, we should have the entire 1st round mocked out by the end of the week. We've had a few head scratchers, but if history tells us anything, it's that we can expect a few in the actual Draft. Kudos to our drafters so far. Next up is thepreacher...

And with the 24th pick in the WCG Mock Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select...

Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama

thepreacher: I really wrestled with this pick. I am trying to get into Rooney's head and pick this as he would. I suppose that is better than getting into JAs head, who knows what is going on in there. The Steelers are known for going after BPA. On my draft board, they are all on the defensive side of the ball. However, the greatest need for the Steelers is on the O-Line. I hear Mike Adams OT (Ohio St) is on their radar but I do not understand why. After his combine performance I have to question his work ethic. The D-Line is also an area of need. Aaron Smith couldn't stay healthy and was let go. James Farrior was also let go leaving Larry Foote to start on the inside. I have Devon Still DL out of Penn State and Dont'a Hightower LB out of Bama ranked equally on my board. Still can be an animal on the line, although he has been known to take plays off. Hightower on the other hand looked solid against the run and looked like a good edge rusher as well. I think the Steelers would find it difficult to pass up this kind of versatility.
