Busy day as the Bears get down from 75 to 53. Releases are coming fast and furious, and the team has even made a signing and a trade with many more moves to be made.
Amobi Okoye has been signed to a one-year deal for the veteran minimum - pending a physical - after being released by the Bucs.
Tyler Clutts has been traded to the Texans for Sherrick McManis. McManis is a 5'11" cornerback who was a former fifth round pick of the Texans.
To be released are QB Josh McCown, RB Armando Allen, WR Brittan Golden, LBs Jabara Williams and Xavier Adibi, S Mark LeGree, CB Cornelius Brown, WR Joe Anderson, and draft pick cornerbacks Isaiah Frey and Gerald McCoy.
Update: Bears also expected to release G Ricky Henry, G A.J. Greene, TE Brandon Vensen, DE Chauncey Davis, DT Jordan Miller, and OT Cory Brandon. Since DT Nate Collins has a one-game suspension, technically the Bears could keep 53 players plus Collins and then make a decision after week one (per Biggs).
Plenty of moves left so stick with us as the updates roll in. And this is an open thread (MA), so parental discretion is advised.
