"...where we get to see the Bears play tonight, Ditka be praised!"

Urlacher void would be filled by Cutler - Rosendoom (!) actually makes a decent point. Video still makes me want to slap his chops, though.

Marshall, Cutler look to finish what they started - Tice: "We've got to protect (Cutler), because at the end of the day, he ain't going anywhere, but I sure could be – let's be realistic."

Larry Mayer's Chalk Talk - Discusses Sanzenbacher's contributions on special teams, if nickel back D.J. Moore will get a chance to play CB, and why rookie Brandon Hardin is playing free and not strong safety.

Urlacher kneewatch 2012

Bernstein: End Coming For Urlacher - "We can talk about the day the Bears eventually say goodbye to one of their best-ever players, and confront life without him as the game churns on as coldly and inexorably as ever. It is going to happen. It may have happened already."

Delmas knee surgery hopefully not an Urlacher foreshadowing - Moon Mullin: Lions safety Louis Delmas had to undergo a knee operation from an injury that occurred last season. Hopefully Delmas' operation isn't a sign of what's to come for Urlacher.

After Ross release, do Bears add another linebacker? - Moon Mullin: The Bears released tight end Draylen Ross Wednesday, though that's hardly a surprise. What will be worth watching, however, is who replaces Ross on the roster.

Bears release tight end Ross - The Chicago Bears released tight end Draylen Ross on Wednesday morning; have not added any depth at MLB, perhaps the biggest statement the team can make about its faith in Brian Urlacher returning soon from a sore left knee.

[Video] Spice Adams on what Urlacher means to the Bears - The Panda joins the CTL panel to discuss the Bears' D and what it means to have #54 running things.

[Video] JD talks Urlacher on 'NFL Live' - Discusses Brian Urlacher's knee injury setback and a possible return from personal time off; unknown if he'll be at tonight's game.

Bears get first game-time look at Brandon Marshall - Brad Biggs: Game against Denver Broncos provides glimpse at Bears revamped offense. Will also show if Webb can be bothered to show up, like he didn't against Merriman last preseason.

Shea McClellin on the spot in Bears’ preseason opener - Much expected of first-rounder in first live test.

[Video] Bowen's Breakdown: How to use Cutler in the bootleg - 1. Let Cutler get sacked eleventy hundred+ times over three seasons. 2. Keep J'Marcus Webb at LT to face opposing teams' best pass-rushers.....

Expect to see the 'Curl-Flat' route this weekend - Matt Bowen: In the NFL preseason, it's all about basic schemes to start.

Bears’ Webb to get first look at left tackle - "You've got to play the hand you're dealt," Tice said. "You make a decision and you go with it. I wasn't going to put (undrafted rookie) James Brown or (inexperienced first-year player) Cory Brandon over there (at right tackle) to protect Jay Cutler. We have enough trouble doing it with the ones."

Larry Mayer: Jeffery exceeding expectations - Receivers coach Darryl Drake is extremely pleased with how second-round draft pick Alshon Jeffery has performed during the first two weeks of training camp.

Bears rookie WR Alshon Jeffery has been earning high praise - Charles Tillman: “The best way to say it is, he’s a Brandon Marshall in the making if he continues to have the work ethic and work on ball skills and work to be a better player.”

RB coach Tim Spencer impressed by Matt Forte - "Stronger and seemingly faster". Also, camp notes.

Larry Mayer: Hoke excited to see how safeties perform - Young safeties Major Wright, Chris Conte and Brandon Hardin face their first true test when the Bears open the preseason against the Broncos.

Bear Facts: CB Charles Tillman - Tillman leads the Bears with 30 interceptions since 2003 (26 over the past seven seasons). Robbie Gould's profile still lists him as lining up at NT.....

Other Bears news Defensive Power Rankings - Gregg Rosenthal ranks the NFL's top units and puts the Bears slightly above average... in the same grouping as the Lions and Packers. The Packers? Really? Dude.

[Video] Howie Long talks Bears pre-season - Thinks Bears wrongly aren't being considered playoff contenders at a national level. NFL team previews: Chicago Bears - "With the new weapons Cutler has at his disposal, the only way the offense will struggle is if the protection doesn’t hold up."

[Video] Spice Adams on life as a free agent - Talks about what he's been doing. He's one funny dude.

It’s a boy for Jay Cutler, Kristin Cavallari - Not clear if Cutler will play tonight. I wouldn't put him out there. It wouldn't be right for a new father to get blindsided by incompetence on the blind side the very next day.

Bears bingo - I'm no expert; is everybody meant to have an identical bingo card?

Everything else

NFL To Debut A Full Slate Of Replacement Refs - Lester A. Wiltfong Jr is less approving of sub-par referees than Roberto Garza is.

NFL team previews: Detroit Lions - "If Delmas can stay healthy, Detroit’s defensive backfield is infinitely more sound." That's just bad timing.
