The "experts" have made their picks for who's going to make the playoffs and which teams will be competing in the Super Bowl this year, with some intelligent media types deciding to make the right call and go all the way with the Bears. So, its time the WCG writers put their playoff predictions down on paper (well, the internet). Hit the jump to see which teams have been chosen to make the playoffs, and whether or not anyone was bold enough to pick a non-Chicago team to win the Super Bowl.
We've listed all of our playoff teams for the NFC and AFC, including wild card teams. There really isn't any reason for us to pick #1 seeds or round-by-round wins, since there's a good chance no one will be right.
For the NFC Playoffs:
NFC North | NFC South | NFC East | NFC West | Wild Card #1 | Wild Card #2
Kev | Packers | Falcons | Giants | 49ers | Bears | Giants |
Sam | Packers | Falcons | Eagles | 49ers | Bears | Panthers |
Les | Packers | Falcons | Eagles | 49ers | Bears | Saints |
Dave Gilbert | Packers | Saints | Eagles | 49ers | Bears | Giants |
David Taylor | Packers | Falcons | Giants | 49ers | Bears | Saints |
TJ | Bears | Saints | Eagles | 49ers | Packers | Falcons |
Steven Sch. | Packers | Saints | Giants | 49ers | Bears | Falcons |
Ronk | Bears | Panthers | Giants | 49ers | Packers | Eagles |
Dane | Packers | Falcons | Giants | 49ers | Bears | Cowboys |
No one was bold enough to have the Bears not make the playoffs, and even more interesting was that no one picked the Lions. The Bears, Packers, Falcons, Saints, Eagles, Giants, and 49ers are the favorites for the six playoff spots, so one of those teams ain't getting in.The Panthers and Cowboys are the only other two teams getting a vote of confidence from staff members.
For the AFC Playoffs:
AFC North | AFC South | AFC East | AFC West | Wild Card #1 | Wild Card #2
Kev | Steelers | Texans | Patriots | Broncos | Ravens | Bengals |
Sam | Ravens | Texans | Patriots | Chargers | Broncos | Bills |
Les | Ravens | Texans | Patriots | Broncos | Steelers | Bills |
Dave Gilbert | Bengals | Texans | Patriots | Chiefs | Ravens | Broncos |
David Taylor | Ravens | Texans | Patriots | Broncos | Steelers | Chiefs |
TJ | Ravens | Texans | Patriots | Broncos | Bengals | Raiders |
Steven Sch. | Ravens | Texans | Patriots | Broncos | Steelers | Jets |
Ronk | Steelers | Texans | Patriots | Broncos | Bengals | Ravens |
Dane | Steelers | Texans | Patriots | Chiefs | Ravens | Broncos |
For the AFC everyone chose the Texans and Pats to win their respective divisions, with the Ravens and Broncos being the other heavy favorites. The North and West were divided amongst three team out of the four teams there, and the wild card picks were all over the place with the Jets, Raiders, and Bills getting nods.
Now, onto the good stuff. Our Super Bowl picks:
Super Bowl | Winner | Loser |
Kev | Bears | Texans |
Sam | Ravens | 49ers |
Les | Bears | Patriots |
Dave Gilbert | Patriots | Giants |
David Taylor | Falcons | Texans |
TJ | Bears | Patriots |
Steven Sch. | Ravens | Bears |
Ronk | Bears | Patriots |
Dane | Packers | Steelers |
In case you're keeping track, this means that Kev, Les, Ronk and I are either homers or true believers, while Dane sticks a big ole cheese knife in your back with his Packers' pick. Funny that three of the four projected Bears' wins are over the Patriots (Ronk even predicted 46-10, but I think that was in jest).
