One of the most enduring, endearing, and beloved names in all of Chicago sports is one Michael Keller Ditka. Ditka was one of the all-time greatest players to ever lace up the cleats for the Chicago Bears, and one of the all-time greatest head coaches to ever stand on the sideline. He was a product of the original founder of both the National Football League and the Chicago Bears franchise, George Halas.
Da Coach once said: "I signed two contracts with Mr. Halas, one as a player in 1961 and one as a coach in 1982, and it was the two greatest contracts I'll ever sign in my life."
Today, Mike Ditka turns 74 years young today. He's had some bumps and bruises along the way, but he's still as salty, honest, outspoken as he ever was, and still loves to cover the greatest game in the world.
From your friends here at Windy City Gridiron... Happy birthday coach. We hope this is one of your best years ever, and look forward to many more to come.
