Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman called his long snapper, Patrick Mannelly, "Day-to-day up to a couple of weeks," and that it "doesn't look good" for Sunday.
So with that in mind the Bears signed Jeremy Cain to assume the duties of The Mann, just in case.
Mannelly was in a walking boot after the Monday Night victory over the Green Bay Packers, but earlier today the boot wasn't on.
Jeremy Cain is a former Chicago Bear, having played eight games between 2004 and 2005. In total he has appeared in 81 NFL games, most recently playing in all 16 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. He was with the Jags since 2009, and he never missed a game for them. According to The Hub, Cain was among their final cuts this summer.
If the 38 year old Mannelly isn't able to go, should we move the Bears alert system to Defcon Orange?
