Last week the Chicago Bears offense was still purring along with back up Josh McCown under center. This week it looks like Jay Cutler is back and prepared to drive the Marc Trestman offense.
How refreshing it feels to have an actual NFL offense in Chicago, but about that defense...
Start 'Em
Matt Forte RB - We've talked about it all season, Matt Forte will be a must start every week. He's tailor made for a West Coast Offense, and last time out against the Lions he had 19 touches for 117 yards, and a TD. On the season Forte is 6th in rushing attempts, and third in both receptions by a back and targets. I would be surprised if Forte doesn't go over 25 touches this week.
Brandon Marshall WR - Another must start every week is Marshall. He's 5th in receptions, and 8th in targets. He's the type of go up and get it receiver that every team covets.
Alshon Jeffery WR - Even with a back up QB slinging it for the Bears, I think you have to roll with Jeffery too. Last week he had 5 catches for 60 yards and a TD. He's still on pace for a thousand yard season, and at the very least he's a low end WR2 or WR3 option this week, and every week moving forward.
Martellus Bennett TE - In most standard scoring leagues, Bennett is a top 10 tight end, so he has to be a guy you start this week. He put up 8/90 the last time these two teams played, so roll the dice with him too.
Sit 'Em
Chicago Bears Defense - With the Chiefs and Patriots both on a bye, the Bears may be your best bet to start, but I would play the match up game this week. Last week the Bears did pick up an interception and five sacks, but do you trust them to come through after being shredded back in week four against the Lions?
Jay Cutler QB - Cutler was cleared, and it appears as though he'll start this Sunday. Regardless of who starts I'd expect the game plan to stay as is. But do you really want to start Cutler on your fantasy team after coming off the groin injury?
Then again, if there is a setback before Sunday and it ends up being Josh McCown...
Josh McCown QB - Last week McCown was the 12th highest scoring QB in my standard scoring Yahoo league. So he may be a guy that's worth a start, depending on the match up you have. Odds are he's still a free agent, so check your roster, and ask yourself if adding a QB facing a Detroit team that has given up the "7th most FPPG to QBs the last 5 weeks" is a good idea.
There's also a good chance this game could be a shootout, so my Sit 'Em recommendation for either QB is closer to a toss up. You may have a better QB already on your roster, but if not, McCown and/or Cutler is worth a second look.
What are your thoughts on the Bears' fantasy options this week?
Also if you have any fantasy related questions drop them in the comment section, and I'm sure some of our members will dole out their advice.
