Detroit Lions vs Baltimore Ravens: Monday Night Football Open Thread

All eyes in the NFC North and AFC North will be on this Monday night football game, with playoff implications aplenty.

Larry French

The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are still in the NFC North hunt, but the Detroit Lions control their own destiny, which is always a much better to place to be than on the outside looking in.  With a win, Detroit moves into sole possession of 1st place, as they hold the tiebreaker over Chicago after sweeping the Bears for the first time since the stone ages.  A loss, and Chicago is suddenly in sole possession of 1st.

For the 7-6 Ravens, they, too, are fighting for their post-season lives, sitting behind the 9-5 Cincinnati Bengals.

This could turn into a real slobber-knocker early, with the offensive power of Baltimore and the nasty defensive front for Detroit.

While Bears and Packers fans will be undoubtedly cheering on Joe Flacco and Co. this evening, the Lions will have an advantage of playing on their home field, which has recently become a little more of a boisterous crowd than in years past.  Will it be enough?  Stay tuned...

This is your Monday Night Football Open Thread... have fun!
