Henry Melton seems to have done something dumb. Originally broken by Michael C. Wright of ESPN:
Confirmed w/ Grapevine, Texas Police Department: #Bears DT Henry Melton was arrested early this morning for assault & public intoxication.
— Adam Hoge (@AdamHoge) December 22, 2013
Grapevine is Melton's hometown. Possible good news? While reports are preliminary, it appears that it may not necessarily be Melton's fault:
Don't jump to conclusions about Melton. Trying 2 find out more, but I'll just say it doesn't sound like Melton is the bad guy here.
— Michael C. Wright (@mikecwright) December 22, 2013
Per Wright, he is already bonded out, likely courtesy of the guaranteed money the franchise tag brought him this year.
Update: Adam Jahns brings some more details:
To recap, #Bears DT Henry Melton arrested at 1:45 am today for public intoxication and assault. Happened at bar w/ staff members.

And in a way that seems contradictory to Wright's earlier report, here's what Adam Hoge is reporting now:
According to police, Henry Melton struck a bar manager after being asked to leave. Details on his arrest here: http://t.co/fxuOzgUWUy

Melton was reportedly cooperative when police arrived, but struck a manager after being asked to leave.
It's definitely easy to assume the worst, but this situation, along with a rehabbed knee, can definitely have serious implications on Melton's contract situation next year. As always, keep checking in with us here at WCG and we'll bring you more on this when we have it.
