Monday Night Football: Atlanta Falcons at San Francisco 49ers Open Thread

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It's the final Monday Night Football game of the season as the 4-10 Atlanta Falcons travel to take on the 10-4 San Francisco 49ers.

The Falcons, clearly, have nothing to play for, but the 49ers are in a three-way battle for one of the NFC's two wild card spots, alongside the New Orleans Saints and the Arizona Cardinals, both at 10-5. Obviously, a win tonight for Jim Harbaugh's team would go a long way to helping them secure a playoff spot.

As an added incentive for the 49ers, this will be their final regular season game at Candlestick Park, where the team have played since 1971. On paper there's nothing to play for the Falcons, who have crashed horribly this season after being touted as a Super Bowl contender by many before the games started to count, but this is their first meeting since the NFC championship game in Atlanta. The Falcons lost 28-24... will that be incentive enough to spur them on a quest for revenge?

This is your Monday Night Football open thread. Knock yourselves out!
