Thursday Night Football Week 14: Houston at Jacksonville Open Thread

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The 2-10 Houston Texans at the 3-9 Jacksonville Jaguars?

Kev said earlier this week that this AFC South matchup could "...possibly (be) the worst of a lot of very bad Thursday night matchups" ... and on the surface, there's little to dispute that. The Jaguars are, well, the Jaguars, and the Texans have collapsed after two seasons in which they won the division. Matt Schaub has gone from franchise quarterback to being benched for Case Keenum in what seemed like the blink of an eye. Case Keenum.

But be not disheartened! SI.com's Chris Burke pointed out this week that, unlikely though it may seem, the 2-10 Texans are still not yet mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. It would require some seriously unlikely results to go their way, but it could yet happen.

Of course, part of the problem is that they lose 13-6 to the Jaguars in their first matchup (at home, no less) two short weeks ago. Then again, the Texans lost to the New England Patriots 34-31 last week, so they're not completely and utterly inept.....

It's unlikely that tonight's game will have any bearing on the rest of the Bears' season so, if you're watching, kick back and enjoy the action for the sake of it.

This is your Thursday Night Football open thread. Holla!
