Bears oft-maligned left tackle arrested for drug charges in Pulaski County, Illinois on Sunday evening.

Per CBS Affiliate KFVS12, J'Marcus Webb was arrested Sunday evening in far Southern Illinois:

Pulaski County Sheriff Randy Kern says a deputy arrested J'Marcus L. Webb on Sunday evening. Webb plays for the NFL's Chicago Bears.

Webb is charged with possession of controlled substance, cannabis and paraphernalia.

Edit: Per an updated story at the Chicago Tribune, Webb was pulled over for speeding:

After being pulled over near mile marker 16.5 at the tip of the state, police found less that 2.5 grams of marijuana, Pilgram said, reading from a police report.

Webb paid $500 of a $5,000 bond on Monday, and was released, with a court date in March.

This is an inopportune time for the young player to have a run-in with the law, as most fans consider him expendable, and there is a new regime taking over as the leadership of this team. Webb is scheduled to make $1.3 million this year, which is the final year of his contract.

However, Jeff Dickerson points out on Twitter that the new coaching staff seemed to like Webb, so who knows how this will shake down. Depending on the severity of the charges, compared to whether the new staff thinks he could contribute significantly in 2013, Webb could theoretically be back for his final year to try and prove that he is worth keeping around.

Depending on the particulars, this could have an effect on the Bears draft and FA plans. Additionally, Webb will likely be looking at punishment by the league. The Commissioner's office doesn't look too kindly on drug use or players who get arrested.

As we get more, we will let you know. What do you think about this situation?
