Despite making the All-SEC team his sophomore season with the University of South Carolina, defensive back/ return specialist Captain Munnerlyn wasn't selected until the 7th Round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He's played out his four year rookie contract, and is now a free agent.

Jeff Dickerson reports that the Chicago Bears have made him a one year offer, but that the Panthers may choose to match it.

The Chicago Bears have offered Carolina Panthers free agent cornerback Captain Munnerlyn a one-year contract, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.

The report states Carolina could attempt to match the offer. The 5-foot-8, 180-pound Munnerlyn started 11 games for the Panthers last season, recording 61 tackles and returning a pair of interceptions for touchdowns.

Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman, both starting cornerbacks for the NFC team in the 2013 Pro Bowl, are each signed through the 2013 season. Zack Bowman was re-signed to a one year deal a few days ago (LINK).

Nickleback D.J. Moore signed with the Panthers today, and free agent Kelvin Hayden isn't likely to return to Chicago.
