Brian Urlacher close to signing with the Minnesota Vikings

New, comments

Reports are trickling in that Brian Urlacher is talking with the Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos.

Jonathan Daniel

Michael Sneed of the Chicago Sun Times is reporting that former Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher is close to signing to play in 2013.

Sneed is told that Urlacher, whose decision to leave the Bears followed their offer of a $1.6 million renewal contract, has been talking to the Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos. "It’s getting close to happening, but Brian is leaning toward heading to Minnesota and is talking a one to two year contract," said a source close to Urlacher.

In regards to the Broncos, Mike Klis of the Denver Post tweeted the following;

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Broncos">#Broncos</a> have yet to express interest in MLB Brian Urlacher. Have not contacted his agent.</p>&mdash; Mike Klis (@MikeKlis) <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeKlis/status/334352057211428866">May 14, 2013</a></blockquote>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Sorry Brian: <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Broncos">#Broncos</a> are not interested in MLB Brian Urlacher. As in period.</p>&mdash; Mike Klis (@MikeKlis) <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeKlis/status/334354355790684161">May 14, 2013</a></blockquote>

And Gary Miller from KCNC Denver tweeted this.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Bronco sources say forget about report out of Chicago about interest in Urlacher. There isn't any. No interest. No contact. End of story.</p>&mdash; gary miller (@thegarymiller) <a href="https://twitter.com/thegarymiller/status/334343498855751681">May 14, 2013</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

It is possible that Urlacher's "people" are just floating the Broncos as a suitor to drive up the market and make the Vikings believe they should sweeten the deal.

So far there has been no word, official or otherwise, from Minnesota about their interest in Urlacher.
