Chicago Bears Lance Briggs is #83 in the NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2013

The NFL Network is running down the list of the 100 best players playing in the NFL today, and Lance Briggs is the first Chicago Bears player to show up.

USA TODAY Sports

Chicago Bears outside linebacker Lance Briggs may have missed out on his eighth consecutive Pro Bowl nod after his 2012 season, but he peers have placed him on the NFL Networks annual Top 100 Players list.

The Pro Bowl is a three way vote by the players, the coaches, and the fans, whereas the NFL Top 100 is a players only vote. Lance Briggs came in at number 83, falling a bit from his 72nd ranking last year.

With 3-4 edge rushing outside linebackers getting the flashy sacks, and with it more recognition, it's Briggs' stellar overall play as the Bears 4-3 weak side linebacker that gave him his well earned reputation. He was over 100 tackles again, he had two interceptions that he returned for touchdowns, 2 forced fumbles, 11 passes defended, and 1.5 sacks for good measure. His ability to diagnose a run play and get to the ball carrier is what separates him from other 4-3 OLBs.

Do you expect any other Chicago Bears to make the list?
