Chicago Bears rookie mini camp to start Friday, here's the list of players set to participate

The Chicago Bears will hold their three day rookie mini camp at Halas Hall beginning Friday, May 10th. Here's a list of the participants.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Starting tomorrow, Friday, May 10th, the Chicago Bears will begin their three day rookie mini camp to help acclimate their 2013 rookie class to the professional level. This will be the first and only camp for #1 draft pick Kyle Long until he's done with final exams, because the NFL prohibits rookies from practicing with their teams until they are all done with school. The exception being the rookie mini camp.

Long is the only draft pick of the Bears that is affected by the rule, but don't worry Bears fans, Long won't be spending all his free time doing book learning, he'll be tutored by long time NFL o-line coach Tony Wise.

The other participants in this weekends mini camp are the other draft picks. Linebackers Jonathan Bostic and Khaseem Greene, defensive end Cornelius Washington (although Washington is listed as an OLB on the Bears website), offensive tackle Jordan Mills, and wide out Marquess Wilson.

Also attending will be the ten undrafted free agents the Bears signed. Corner backs Demontre Hurst and C.J. Wilson, wide receivers Mark Harrison, Josh Lenz, and Marcus Rucker, defensive tackles Zach Minter and Brent Russell, punter Tress Way, running back Micheal Ford, and center P.J. Lonergan.

UPDATE: Rutgers WR Mark Harrision will not participate while he recovers from surgery.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Undrafted rookie WR Mark Harrison failed his Bears physical and will return to free agency. (Helmet to MidWayMonster54)

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune is also reporting that the following players will attend the camp on a try out basis.

Kellen Bartlett (6' 2", 252), Utah State TE- Bartlett may project to an H-Back or fullback.

Jimmy Coy (5' 11", 211), St. Xavier QB - Running a 4.6 40 could give the Bears a different look at QB.

A.J. Lindeman (6' 5", 307), Toledo OT - A right tackle that may project to guard.

Harry Peoples (5' 8", 196), Louisiana-Lafayette WR - A slot receiver with a 4.48 40 at his pro day.

Richard Samuel (6', 238), Georgia FB - He ran the second fastest 40 at the Georgia pro day.

Josh Williams (6' 4", 257), Kansas DE - A 12 game starter last year at Kansas, showed 4.7 speed at his pro day.

Pat Williams (6' 2", 276), McNeese State DT - An athletic DT to add to the mix.

B.J. Scott (5' 11", 205), South Alabama CB - For more on Scott check out this story from SBN.

Dalton Hilliard (5' 10", 202), UCLA S - Hilliard has good genes, and he had a very good pro day.

Chris Salvi (5' 10", 185), Notre Dame S - This former walk on at ND is more suited to strong safety.

Tunde Bakare (5' 9", 202), Kansas LB - Given his size, and his pro day numbers, he's projected to play strong safety in the NFL.

Andrew Starks (6' 2", 240), Princeton LB - This inside linebacker is from Plainfield, Illinois.

Jon Major (6' 1", 234), Colorado LB - He's been called an instinctive big hitter. Here's his pro day numbers.

Patrick Murray (5' 7" 178), Fordham K/P - Murray is a highly decorated collegiate kicker and punter.

Kyle Negrete (5' 11", 217), USC P - Do you like your punters to also double at linebacker?

Greg Wood (6', 192"), Valparaiso P - This local product (Libertyville, IL) is known for his directional punting.

Jay Karutz (6' 1", 198), Eastern Michigan P - This former Australian rules footballer has a nearly 9 minute long highlight video.

Zak Pedersen (6' 2", 230), Illinois LS -Let's face it, Pedersen has a long road to surpass Patrick Mannelly, but he does have a cool video!

UPDATES:

Nate Behrends (6' 7", 310), Colorado School Of Mines OT - I've recently been alerted via email about Behnends invite to the weekend's camp. Here's his bio page.

Demetrius Fields (5' 11", 207), Northwestern WR -Here are his pro day numbers.

Archibald Barnes (6' 3", 235), Vanderbilt LB - Seems slow for an OLB, and small for a DE, but it sure is good to see the Vanderbilt connection still lives.

Brandon Hartson (6' 2", 238), Houston LS - Houston bio page.

Maurice Jones (5' 9", 193), Temple CB - Maybe a NB prospect?

It has also been reported that well traveled camp body Austin Signor, a kicker from Eastern Illinoiswill be at the mini camp.

There will also be some Bears veterans at the mini camp, QB Matt Blanchard will be there as will the following per Brad Biggs;

The other veterans participating in rookie minicamp, according to a source, are wide receivers Brittan Golden, Dale Moss and Terrence Toliver, cornerback Isaiah Frey, a sixth-round pick a year ago, safety Cyhl Quarles, guard Derek Dennis, linebacker Lawrence Wilson, offensive tackle Cory Brandon and defensive end Aston Whiteside.

That's probably more than you'd need to know about any of these try out players.

Do you see any of these players having a chance to impress this weekend?
