Bears release 2013 training camp schedule

On Thursday, the Bears released their schedule for training camp. As it will be the first under new head coach Marc Trestman, there are some changes from the Lovie Smith days.

USA TODAY Sports

The Bears will hold training camp on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. for the 12th consecutive year. For some reason, it is sponsored by RC Cola and the "official" name is 2013 RC Cola Training Camp.

There are some changes to the practice line ups from the Lovie years; gone are the afternoon practices and in with the morning practices.

Smith always believed in practicing at the same time as game time would be on Sundays, but Trestman departs from that by implementing almost exclusively morning practices.

Camp will run from July 25 to Aug. 14 with nearly all practices being held 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For players and fans alike this means the heat will be less of a factor. But if you're traveling from a far suburb, you will have get up early to get in the gates and pick out a good spot along the fence for autographs and practice watching.

Another change is that there are no night practices scheduled for the stadium at Olivet Nazaene, which were always a favorite of Bears fans.

The popular Family Fest at Solider Field lives on though, and is scheduled for Saturday August 3.

Two afternoon practices are scheduled for Aug. 5 and Aug. 11 from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Other special programs put on by the team are Vamos Bears Xfinity (July 27), Ladies Day (July 31), Bears BBQ Bash (Aug. 2), Armed Forces Day (Aug. 5), Youth Football Day (Aug. 7) and the eighth annual Run with Staley (Aug. 11).
