Chicago Bears to work out JaMarcus Russell, Gabe Miller suspended, and other Bears tidbits

There has been a lot of news about the Chicago Bears today. Players getting tryouts, players getting suspended, some Bears met the media, and there was an OTA held today.

Ezra Shaw

Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago is reporting that the Chicago Bears will bring in former Oakland Raiders number one draft pick JaMarcus Russell for a workout along with three other quarterbacks. After looking more like an offensive lineman jsut a few months ago, he dropped a reported 50 pounds to get back to his playing weight of 265.

My gut feeling is, there's nothing going on here other than some kicking of the tires by Phil Emery, Marc Trestman and the offensive staff, but you never know.

In other Bears news...

Tight end Gabe Miller was suspended 4 games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy. Miller was signed last year to the Bears practice squad. He can still practice with the team, so he'll really have to show the coaches he's deserving of a roster spot.

Brandon Marshall has been given the 'good to go' by doctors after rehabbing his hip this off season. Even though he's 100%, he only did a little individual work at today's practice. Marshall said the hip has bothered him the last two years, and he's excited to see what he can do now that he's healthy.
