Chicago Bears sign Linebacker Andrew Starks, waive kicker Austin Signor

The Chicago Bears will begin practice at 3:00 pm today, and they'll do so with a new linebacker on the field. This must mean the Bears are unhappy with (insert LB name here), rabble, rabble...

Yes, this #43 is a linebacker, and his name is Andrew Starks.

As reported by numerous Chicago Bears beat reporters, the Bears have added linebacker Andrew Starks. He was at the rookie mini camp back in May, and here's the riveting info we brought you about Starks then.

Andrew Starks (6' 2", 240), Princeton LB - This inside linebacker is from Plainfield, Illinois.

He was an inside linebacker at Princeton, but the Bears will probably want him to lean multiple LB spots. He ran a 4.7 forty at his pro day, with 23 reps of 225 on the bench.

I'm glad Adam Jahns tweeted out that the three year contract was standard, because when the Bears gave a similar deal to the recently waived Austin Signor, fans thought that Robbie Gould's job was in jeopardy.

Here's some Andrew Starks highlights from his collegiate days. (Helmet tip to Spongie)

Much like the recently signed undrafted free agent Josh Williams, Starks is a long shot to make the team.

FYI, the Training Camp Open Thread will be up around 3pm.

What do you think about Bears camp thus far?
