Chicago Bears practice is over, and we have your recap right now!

Now on to the who's practicing portion of the recap.

Matt Forte was held out of practice, for what appeared to be nothing more than a veterans rest day. Tackle Jonathan Scott was out after practicing yesterday. Starting left tackle Jermon Bushrod is back participating in team drills.

Middle linebacker D.J. Williams remains in a walking boot.

Julius Peppers was excused from practice today, but he did have some hamstring tightness the last couple days. Earl Bennett (concussion) was also not at practice.

For some good info on concussions, this is from WCG member akn, who dropped this yesterday in the practice recap thread.

We would need more specific information to make any assumptions about hightened susceptibility.

For example, dizziness (of the virtigo/lightheadedness kind) is the 2nd most common symptom of concussions (following headache), so it doesn't say much. We don't know if he is experiencing this dizziness at rest (which would be discouraging after 2 days) or when they have him do some light activity (which is normal for recovery after 2 days). Over 85% of concussions resolve in 7-10 days. And while the balance thing is a pretty specific indicator of a (bad) concussion, it isn't very sensitive.

The only clear evidence that speaks towards Bennett's heightened susceptibility are his previous concussions, but that is oversimplifying things. Yes, a history of multiple concussions makes it more likely to get concussed again, but that is a pretty non-specific predictor. If that's all we went by, then you'd have to more worried about Cutler than Bennett. There are in fact several other factors that come into play, such as taking longer and longer to recover from successive concussions (I don't remember how long Bennett took in the past), or smaller and smaller impacts causing the concussions, or whether the player has a previous history of psych or neuro disorders, etc.

Now on to some practice highlights via Twitter.

For those wondering, this is common place in the NFL, and every other level of football. You don't want your o-line to cut your own d-line. Another no-no for defensive linemen, is getting in front of a throwing QB. You don't want the QB's follow through to hit a defenders helmet or shoulder pad.
