Chicago Bears Fantasy Football: Start 'Em and Sit 'Em versus the Lions

Last night the San Francisco 49ers finally remembered how they should be playing football, and they crushed the St. Louis Rams, 35-11. A few of you may have had some of their players starting for your fantasy teams, but here's the skinny on the Chicago Bears fantasy options if you need a nudge for your team.

Justin K. Aller

We do realize that the Start 'Em category is kind of repetitive, but with such great fantasy options on the Chicago Bears this year what do you expect?

Start 'Em

Matt Forte RB - Great West Coast Offense fit, blah, blah, blah... A lot of touches, yadda, yadda, yadda... Matt Forte is a must start.

Brandon Marshall WR - Even with a slow start last week, he still managed 5 for 52, including that big 41 yard reception. Marshall could be schemed out of the game by opposing defenses for only so long, at some point Jay Cutler will chuck it up there to the player he trusts most.

Martellus Bennett TE - I really think Bennett is close to being an every week must start, but you still have to play the match up game with him. If you are holding on a Jimmy Graham or Jordan Cameron type TE (I actually have both of those guys on my roster), then keep Bennett on the pine, otherwise start him.

Bennett is such a big part of the Bears red zone package that it's hard to justify benching him. Also take into account that last week, Washington's tight ends combined for 9 catches for 101 yards. In my league Bennett is actually a free agent, even though his fantasy points place him as the 6th best TE.

Chicago Bears Defense - The takeaway mentality remains on the Bears defense, and once they take it away, they always look to score. Devin Hester is bound to break one at some point, and did you know that Julius Peppers really enjoys playing against the Lions. In ten career games, he has 11 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries.

Sit 'Em

Jay Cutler QB - Jay is getting a lot of good press after three games, but he's still not putting up the kind of numbers that would make me start him this week. Although in 9 career games against Detroit, he has 12 passing touchdowns to only one interception. Weigh your options with Cutler this week, I actually have him and Matthew Stafford, and I'm not sure who I'll start.

Alshon Jeffery WR - Jeffery had his best receiving game of the year so far, but he still remains a 3rd fantasy WR option at best. He may start clicking in the offense at some point, but until he proves his worth, he's a wildcard for you to start.

Michael Bush RB - Even though Chicago head coach Marc Trestman mentioned that Bush will be his goal line back, and that he plans to incorporate him into the TCO a bit more, I still wouldn't start him. Maybe if you are in a bye week bind, you can use him as a flex option, but I'd pass.

What do you guys think about the Bears' fantasy options against the Lions this week?
