After being rumored for a while now, and finally confirmed by Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun Times, the Chicago Bears are adding two coaches to their defensive coaching staff.

Former Connecticut head coach Paul Pasqualoni will reportedly be the Bears' new defensive line coach. He was in charge of UConn from 2011-2013, and before that he was the defensive line coach / interim defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in 2010. He also called the defensive plays for the Miami Dolphins in 08 and 09, and he has previous experience working with linebackers and tight ends.

He's probably best known as the Syracuse head coach from 1991-2004. He won 107 games in his 14 years there, and his teams only suffered through one losing season. His coaching experience started at the high school level in 1972, and the 64 year old hasn't missed a season yet.

Reggie Herring was hired to be the Bears' new linebackers coach, and Herring worked with Pasqualoni in Dallas. The 54 year old Herring has been coaching NFL linebackers since 2008, and his first coaching gig came in 1981. He was in Dallas from 2008-10, and with the Houston Texans from 2011-13. He's been a defensive coordinator in college for four different teams.

The Bears have added two very experienced coaches to their coaching staff, and they are both schooled in the 3-4 defensive scheme.

Current Chicago defensive coordinator Mel Tucker also has 3-4 experience, so let the speculation continue to build.

Do you think the Bears are moving away from the 4-3 defense? Maybe a hybrid scheme, or a full on 3-4?

What are your thoughts on the two new coaches and on a possible scheme change?
