Thursday night games haven't been that pretty for the most part this season, but two teams who are going well will duke it out in tonight's contest to see which ends up atop of the AFC West in the first of their intradivisional series, as the Denver Broncos (5-1) play host to the San Diego Chargers (5-2).
The Chargers are looking to bounce back from a 23-20 home defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, one in which the Chiefs dominated the time of possession 39:00 to 21:00. Facing a third-ranked Denver run defense, they'll look to Philip Rivers, the league's third-highest ranked quarterback in terms of passer rating, to do some damage.
And do some damage they must, for they face a man who's thrown for 510 career touchdowns (take a drink every time that's brought up by the commentary team). Peyton Manning will look to extend his freshly-set record off a 42-17 home demolition of the San Francisco 49ers, and one of his targets will be the NFL's leader in receiving touchdowns, Julius Thomas.
Could be a good one. Have fun and, as Steven Schweickert would no doubt remind you, Open Thread Responsibly (Tm)!
