Bad news from the Chicago Bears today...

It's not known at this time the type of injury to Brian de la Puente's ankle, only that it's severe enough to keep him out for the next 5 weeks. He had been filling in at left guard for the injured Matt Slauson, but with the return of right tackle Jordan Mills, the Bears will move Michael Ola over to left guard.

With de la Puente on IR, the Bears currently have no one with game experience to back up center Roberto Garza. Eben Britton has practiced some at center in the past, but he's never played it in a game. Undrafted rookie Ryan Groy started one game at center in 2011, while a member of the Wisconsin Badgers.

For those wondering about Taylor Boggs, he was waived with an injury settlement last month.

Brandon Dunn could provide some insurance at defensive tackle for Jeramiah Ratliff, who has been listed as "Did Not Practice" all week with a knee injury. Dunn is a 6'2" 300 pound undrafted rookie out of Louisville.
