Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions 1st Quarter Open Thread

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The stage is all set for the Chicago Bears to get their season turned around-- all they have to do is go out and beat the Detroit Lions.

Sounds simple, right? The Lions offensive line is already woeful, and they will be without two of their regular starters. Reggie Bush has been officially ruled out, and Calvin Johnson has still been limping around due to the ankle he injured several weeks ago that knocked him out for a month.

While Jeremiah Ratliff has been ruled out for the Chicago Bears, it is Jared Allen and Willie Young that could have big days for the defense.  Quarterback Matthew Stafford could be in trouble.  He should be in trouble.

The Lions are 1-9 in their last 10 Thanksgiving day games.

They are currently on a two-game losing streak (vs Cardinals and vs Patriots), and haven't scored a touchdown since three weeks ago.

Again... sounds simple, right? The Bears, with all of their offensive weapons and a defense that should have a feast on Matt Stafford, should be able to come out of Detroit with a win...

But these aren't your grandfather's Bears, and Marc Trestman hasn't exactly been the epitome of offensive or defensive success this season.

On paper, this should be a win. On paper, the Bears should win their third straight game and be one step closer to potentially punching their playoff ticket.  But who knows...

This is your 1st Quarter Open Thread... Have fun!
