There wasn't much scoring to speak of in this one, as the Bears couldn't take advantage of any of their red zone opportunities, including a drive after a Kyle Fuller interception and a 61-yard kickoff return by Marc Mariani, and had to resort to kicking three field goals from Jay Feely on his first four field goal attempts since being signed. But the big blow came on a 44-yard touchdown strike to Adam Thielen with nobody around for miles, which gave the Vikings a 10-6 lead.
The Bears had a chance as the defense held strong on fourth and 1 late in the fourth quarter, but a false start penalty and an illegal touching penalty on a throw to Josh Morgan pushed the Bears to second and 20, a down and distance combination the Bears could not recover from.
That puts the Bears' season in the books, with a 5-11 record, numerous off the field issues (and plenty of on-field issues) and plenty of rumors of coaches and other personnel being relieved of their duties. We'll have all that as it comes.
The Bears currently have the 7th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft in Chicago.
And again, we thank you for sticking with us through another year of Bears football, and we look forward to breaking it all down and building up towards another year, and hopefully a deep run in the playoffs.
