Chicago Bears re-sign LB D.J. Williams to a one-year contract

New, comments

The Chicago Bears are continuing to lock up players hitting the Free Agent market.

Emery is on a certifiable roll right now:

Williams appeared in six games for the Bears last season, starting in four of them. With two sacks, a forced fumble, and nineteen tackles, Williams was out for the season with a ruptured pectoral muscle. Turning thirty-two this season, it was rumored that Williams was holding out for hopes of a multi-year deal.

Williams allows the Bears to retain a somewhat-known commodity on what is likely to be a team-friendly deal. This allows the Bears another season to see if they have a young player who can take that position and run with it, or if we'll be talking about drafting/free agency for a milddle linebacker next year, as well.
