Josh McCown signs two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Bucs

McCown is the first former Bear to join Lovie Smith and the Buccaneers, but won't likely be the last.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

This is one that many expected... From quarterback Josh McCown's agent:

The contract is for two years/ $10 million, in a role where he will get a chance to be the starting quarterback.  That's obviously more money than the Bears were willing to offer a backup, so that leaves Jay Cutler and Jordan Palmer as the only QB's on the roster at this point.

Phil Emery and Marc Trestman will now start looking to add a 3rd QB to the mix, a process that they have probably already started. Who are some names to look out for?

From Rotoworld's Evan Silva:

We can probably rule out Vick and Freeman, but any of the remaining guys could be a possibility, depending on what Trestman is looking for. He likes carrying three QB's on the roster, and Jordan Palmer probably isn't ready yet to be a true #2, so the next guy up needs to be someone they trust in case Cutler goes down.

If Free Agency doesn't net a backup quarterback, then all eyes will turn to the Draft.

What are your thoughts on seeing McCown go to Tampa Bay?  He wanted to go somewhere he could play and make a difference, and he will get his shot with the Bucs.

Stay tuned...
