Chicago Bears re-sign cornerback Sherrick McManis

The Chicago Bears have been the most active team in free agency this off season, and they re-upped with another of their players today when they gave Sherrick McManis a one year deal.

It was rumored yesterday, and now it's official.

Sherrick McManis will be entering his 5th season as a pro and his 3rd season as a member of the Chicago Bears. Most of his action has been on special teams although he did pick up one start at corner last season. In 2013 he was number two on the Bears with 15 special teams tackles.

McManis was originally a 5th round draft pick of the Houston Texans after finishing up his collegiate career at Northwestern in 2010. He not only went to college locally, he's from nearby Peoria, Illinois, and he attended Richwoods High School.

The Bears traded fullback Tyler Clutts for McManis in 2012 and later that season he was awarded the NFC Special Teams Player of the week in part for a blocked punt.
