Memorial Day video: Jim Cornelison sings the national anthem

On this Memorial Day, we here at WCG encourage you to think about all those who have served and are serving in the military. Those people are the ones we can thank for our freedoms and the ability to enjoy things like the NFL and the Chicago Bears.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

It's well-known that the Chicago Bears have a few more tie-ins to the United States military than many other NFL franchises. The Bears' founder, Papa Bear George Halas was a WWI and WWII veteran. The Bears play in Soldier Field, a memorial stadium which is "Dedicated to the men and women of the armed services."

So on holidays like today, Memorial Day in the United State, it's good to take a break from football and the NFL and all things Bears and look at the bigger picture. Please stop for a minute and think about the men and women who fight for the United States and those who are currently serving as well as those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

These brave and courageous individuals make it all possible for us to go about, writing freely on the Internet about anything, not just football and to enjoy the little things that we might take for granted.

So thank you to all of our active duty members and those who have already served. We know we have our active military members on here so we want to extend a special "thank you" to them as well.

Thank a veteran today, think of those who have passed and maybe even attend a local ceremony if you get the chance.

As for this, I wanted to come up with something that was Bears-related but also patriotic. What the heck is more patriotic than Jim Cornelison singing the national anthem? This one comes from the NFC Divisional Playoff Game back 2011. Enjoy it!
