Chicago Bears Mini Camp Day 2 recap: Trestman and Tucker want Bears to get tougher

The Chicago Bears were once again forced inside to the Walter Payton Center for day 2 of their mandatory mini camp. Here are a few tidbits from today's practice...

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Thanks to the wonderful world of Twitter we have up to the minute news on all our favorite sports teams these days. The Chicago Bears finish up day two of their mini camp, and the tweets are flowing. We've collected some of the interesting Bears nuggets from today and we do hope you enjoy.

The Bears coaches were talking about getting tougher as a team today, and what better way to hype it up than like this.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a> warmed up to AC/DC&#39;s &quot;Thunderstruck&quot; at practice today inside the Walter Payton Center <a href="http://t.co/xVaAhADhBk">pic.twitter.com/xVaAhADhBk</a></p>&mdash; Zach Zaidman (@ZachZaidman) <a href="https://twitter.com/ZachZaidman/statuses/479321019274915840">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

But back to the toughness theme...

I know, I know...

I know what many of you are thinking. You're either really excited that the Bears are talking tough and looking to the past to emphasize the Chicago Bears' Attitude, or you're thinking talk is cheap.

We have some special teams nuggets for you to digest and this first one is a little tough to swallow.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a> STC Joe DeCamillis said he’s still waiting on a decision from Patrick Mannelly about his return. And some info on the Bears defense starting with one of the newest Bears...

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Jared Allen: &quot;It&#39;s hard to defend [the <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a>] offense. It really is. For me, it&#39;s getting the defense to match that.&quot;</p>&mdash; Zach Zaidman (@ZachZaidman) <a href="https://twitter.com/ZachZaidman/statuses/479341844833132544">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a> Trestman on Allen: &quot;As much of a personality he has, on the field, he&#39;s all business, sets a tone. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I really think Jared Allen's professionalism and nonstop motor is great for his teammates.

FYI, both Conte and rookie DT Will Sutton missed practice for personal reasons.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Mel Tucker said the <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a> want everyone to be a blitzing threat, and that includes Tim Jennings at nickel</p>&mdash; Patrick Finley (@patrickfinley) <a href="https://twitter.com/patrickfinley/statuses/479330808566513665">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

What about the rookie #1 draft pick?

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Tucker: Fuller has to keep learning the defense, where his help is. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Yesterday it was learned that D.J. Williams still has the edge at middle linebacker, but Jon Bostic is working hard to win the job.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Tucker said they have worked with Jon Bostic on staying square longer and mirroring the ball. <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a></p>&mdash; Adam Hoge (@AdamHoge) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamHoge/statuses/479328923247853568">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Tucker says Bostic has been used in all three linebacker positions.</p>&mdash; Zach Zaidman (@ZachZaidman) <a href="https://twitter.com/ZachZaidman/statuses/479329749659951105">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

But what about that other young linebacker battling for a starting job...

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>LBs coach Reggie Herring said Shea McClellin is &quot;settling into the Sam position because we feel he’s really natural there." <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a></p>&mdash; Adam Hoge (@AdamHoge) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamHoge/statuses/479327163598925824">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Tucker said McClellin is working at Sam in the 4-3 over (base) formations. He’s received work at Mike in nickel.</p>&mdash; Adam Hoge (@AdamHoge) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamHoge/statuses/479329833810264065">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I think the Bears would love for both Bostic and McClellin to outright win the Mike and Sam positions, but regardless, I think both will see plenty of playing time.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Tucker says <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a> emphasizing hand use, pad level, setting the edge correctly and violent shedding of blockers on the defensive line.</p>&mdash; Zach Zaidman (@ZachZaidman) <a href="https://twitter.com/ZachZaidman/statuses/479328881829109760">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

And a few other random Tweets...

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bears&amp;src=hash">#Bears</a> coach Marc Trestman says he expects offensive improvement because of a starting O-line that returns intact.</p>&mdash; Bob LeGere (@BobLeGere) <a href="https://twitter.com/BobLeGere/statuses/479334341000957952">June 18, 2014</a></blockquote>

Alshon Jeffery was among those that were held back a little.

What are your thoughts on Day 2?
