So what ridiculous overreactions did you hear after Friday night's "HUGE" win by the Chicago Bears over the Philadelphia Eagles? I lucked into tickets that night so I got to hear first hand just how excited fans were to see Jordan Lynch play. Some fans really, really want him to make the team.
Other things I overheard that night;
After the big hit by Adrian Wilson, 'Adrian Wilson is gonna be a Pro Bowler!'
After a few bad punts, "We never shoulda cut Butt-Head's kid.'
After pretty much every long snap, 'Bring back Patrick Mannelly!'
After the kick return TD by the Eagles, 'A Dave Toub coached special teams never would allow a return TD.'
After David Fales' first completion, 'This kid's gonna be special!'
It's one practice game. Settle down...
Now over to today's practice. It was a very sloppy morning in Bourbonnais so the Bears moved practice to Ward Field, which just had field turf installed a few weeks ago. Field turf in the Midwest, what a novel concept.
The inactives were as follows: Lance Briggs was given the day off and Jordan Mills, Isaiah Frey, Eben Britton, Brain de la Puente and Chris Williams were all nursing injuries.
In case you missed it, both Chris Conte and Craig Steltz were activated from the PUP list on Sunday. As I tweeted out yesterday (follow me at @wiltfongjr btw), don't be surprised to see Conte back with the ones as soon as he's physically up to speed.
And speaking of Conte...
At the beginning of practice this was happening;
Adrian Wilson, Brock Vereen and Chris Conte are rotating at safety with the second team.

Then this happened;
Chris Conte and Adrian Wilson now getting reps with first team at safety in full team drills.

And finally this happened;
Chris Conte intercepted a Jordan Palmer duck in the end zone. Finished the play by jogging the full 100 yards. Crowd actually cheered him.

The other Bear defender that has suffered the wrath from a lot of fans is Shea McClellin. He definitely had a few hiccups against the Eagles, but he was still lining up with the ones as the strong side outside linebacker in their base D.
Bears LB coach Reggie Herring on Shea McClellin: "Shea's shown enough that I believe he has LB instincts. I think he's gonna be fine."
— Mark Potash (@MarkPotash) August 11, 2014
Herring on Shea: "There are times out here where he moves better than all of them -- change of direction, instincts, breaking on the ball."
— Mark Potash (@MarkPotash) August 11, 2014
The Bears were having other LBs work more at nickel in place of McClellin today.
Shea wasn't the only linebacker that looked out of sorts against the Eagles, which prompted this from the Bears LB coach.
#Bears LB coach Reggie Herring on LBs performance vs. #Eagles: "I don't know, does the sky fall after one preseason game?"

In other defensive tweets...
#Bears DE Willie Young picked Jordan Palmer and gets escorted into the end zone by teammates who were watching.

Trevor Scott continues to impress at #Bears camp . Just beat Joe Long for "sack" of Jimmy Clausen.
— Adam Jahns (@adamjahns) August 11, 2014
Charles Tillman w/another good practice. Just broke up another pass in 7-on-7.

Khaseem Greene working with No. 1 defense (currently in 7on7s) with Lance Briggs taking the day at #Bears camp.

And a few tweets about the offense...
WR Josh Morgan continuing to get looks and work with the #Bears first team offense.
— Adam Jahns (@adamjahns) August 11, 2014
TE Zach Miller continues to be a reliable target in full-team and 7-on-7. Caught about 4-5 balls so far.
— Jeff Dickerson (@ESPNChiBears) August 11, 2014
Jimmy Clausen has been taking the second-team reps today, but I'm guessing we're not supposed to read into that.
— Kevin Fishbain (@kfishbain) August 11, 2014
Don't be alarmed if you heard about Brandon Marshall fielding punts.
Joe DeCamillis on B. Marshall fielding punts in practice: "Brandon Marshall sometimes likes to be in drills he shouldn't be in."

That Coach Trestman is a great guy...

I'll just place this right here.
What are some of your thoughts after today's practice?
