Defense dominates Friday in practice - Larry Mayer: If the revamped Bears defense performs this season like it did Friday in practice, the unit’s poor performance last year will quickly become a distant memory.

Defensive dominance becoming standard - Moon Mullin: 2014 Bears defense making plays all over the field at the expense of one of the top NFL offenses.

No excuses for Emery, Bears - Dan Durkin: This is Emery’s roster; the core of this team has been shaped by Emery’s vision and in year three of his plan, it must come to fruition.

Bears training camp, Friday practice

Team notes - Michael C. Wright from Friday practice: Defense far outplayed the offense in the most spirited workout of training camp, with veteran DE Trevor Scott being one of the players standing out thus far.

Team notes - Not-Hub Fishbain: Jennings, Tillman give pointers to younger corners from sidelines as defense dominates in the red zone; pass rush drills and more from camp.

Team notes - Adam Hoge: Red zone period brought back memories of some of Lovie Smith’s defenses, only this one was facing a good offense; notable plays and more observations from Friday.

Team notes - Rich Campbell: Second-string O-line struggling to block Christian Jones; more thoughts and observations from practice. Wilson in lead for 3rd WR; Williams has potential as returner.

Team notes - Dan Wiederer: Matt Forte has advice for backup RB candidates; Kyle Long's return; Michael Ola making most of opportunity. Patrick Finley: Jordan Lynch's reps will be in preseason games.

Bennett serves as energizer on sluggish day for offense - Not-Hub Arkins: Martellus Bennett was impressed with defense's ability to rattle an offense that returned the core after finishing 8th in total yards.

Adrian Wilson gets chance with starters - Michael C. Wright: As each day passes Wilson’s conditioning has improved, and members of the staff think he still has the ability to play in the NFL.

Safeties all getting a shot - Bob LeGere: The Bears continue to shuffle bodies in and out of the safety positions, with Adrian Wilson the latest to get an opportunity to work with the first team defense on Friday.

Christian Jones turning heads - Michael C. Wright: Through the first seven practices, Jones appears to be one of the most athletic linebackers on the team, and probably the only true SLB at the position.
