Today's Chicago Bears' practice was shells only, but there were a few players that sat out. Tim Jennings (quad), Eben Britton (hamstring) and Jordan Mills (foot) were held out of practice again. Craig Steltz and Chris Conte still aren't cleared to participate. Kyle Long was suffering from some ankle soreness so he was also held out.
Jared Allen is still excused after he and his wife had a baby yesterday, but he is expected to be at the game Friday.
Martellus Bennett is still suspended and his status for Friday's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles is still unknown. Head coach Marc Trestman had a "very positive" talk with Bennett on Tuesday. If Bennett misses the game look for backups Dante Rosario, Zach Miller, Matthew Mulligan and Jeron Mastrud to try to impress.
If you somehow missed it, the Bears signed a wide out yesterday. Greg Herd will be in the mix to replace Marquess Wilson.
Now onto some tweets...

Scratch that. Ola at RT, de la Puente at RG w/ 1s. Read my notes wrong @jimmyray78 who's taking reps with the 1s at RT?

Ola seems to be carving out a niche on the team so far. He's played both guard and tackle at times with the ones.
Mundy and McCray are the first team safeties today.
