Yesterday the Bears waived long-snapper Brandon Hartson. The Bears had worked out a number of long-snapping candidates over the course of the week and yesterday, and today announced they signed long-snapper Jeremy Cain back for his third stint with the team.
The #Bears have signed LS Jeremy Cain to the 53-man roster. Cain served as LS for the team in 2 games in 2013.

Cain filled in for two weeks as a long-snapper last season; before that, he was initially a Bears' pickup at linebacker in 2004 and 2005, appearing in eight games. Cain was in camp with the Buccaneers this year, and was part of their first wave of cuts.
Brandon Hartson made the initial 53, but was cut last night when the Bears felt they could upgrade the position. Hartson had an up-and-down preseason.
This of course means that Patrick Mannelly is still not returning.
