You thought everything was fine and dandy when the Bears' first drive took four plays, involved four different weapons, and finished on a touchdown toss to Martellus Bennett.
You thought wrong.
The Bills tied the game at 7 on an E.J. Manuel rush, then took the lead on a Dan Carpenter 50 yard field goal and a toss to C.J. Spiller to go into the half 17-7. Robbie Gould kicked a field goal to cut the deficit to 7, then a Chris Conte interception led to a Brandon Marshall touchdown reception to tie things at 17 heading into the fourth quarter. Carpenter added another 33-yarder, then Gould kicked a 37 yard field goal to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, Cutler was nearly picked off before the Bears punted to pin the Bills back in their territory, but a deep midfield toss to Mike Williams and a long free run by Fred Jackson shoving Conte aside paved the way for Carpenter's glorified extra point to win the game.
There was some stuff to be encouraged by, especially defensively, but there's also a lot to be worried about - namely, some of the exact same problems as last year as well as injuries to some of the key offensive players. We'll have Notes for you in the morning. For now, digest this loss, because the Bears are 0-1 and the Vikings are leading the division.
