If you keep tabs on social media you may have caught the news last night that the Chicago Bears were going to sign rookie safety Ahmad Dixon off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. If you follow me on Twitter (You do follow me on Twitter don't you?) you would have seen the vitals I tweeted out on Dixon.

Dixon was a 7th round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys and he was quickly scooped up by the Vikings when Dallas cut him. There are some potential red flags in his past, an arrest in college, a suspension in Dallas, an unnecessary roughness penalty in preseason. He probably has some growing up to do between the ears, but there's no denying his athleticism. At Baylor he was first team All Big 12 and first team All American. The Baylor Bears used him at strong safety last season, but prior to that he played a hybrid nickel/linebacker role.
Chicago will be responsible for Dixon's pro salary for at least three games, even if they part ways with him before that time.
To make room for Dixon on the roster they made the following move.
#Bears announce CB Demontre Hurst waived to make room for S Ahmad Dixon. Hurst played 10 snaps on special teams Sunday.

Hurst is practice squad eligible so the Bears could bring him back if he clears waivers.
What are your thoughts on this move?
